During the 2017-2018 school year, SJASD launched a pilot project asking all staff to be less connected to work via their electronic communication on weekends and during school breaks. After a successful trial period, the Division is moving forward with this initiative across all departments beginning in the 2018-2019 school year. This communication standard aims to promote work-life balance for all staff, including rest and vacation time, as well as family and personal time.
Communication remains a top priority in SJASD and our families can expect timely responses to all inquiries and emails. However, responses should not be expected outside of working hours. We encourage our staff to use time outside of work to unplug, recharge and de-stress; to connect with those around them; and in turn, to come to work focused and ready to contribute to our great schools for growing and learning.
Thank you in advance to our school communities and St. James-Assiniboia families for respecting these boundaries in technology communication.
