At the regular School Board held on June 13, 2017, St. James-Assiniboia School Division presented a special grant to the Historical Museum Association of St. James-Assiniboia. A grant in the amount of $1,100 was presented by Craig McGregor, Chair of the Board of Trustees, to Barry Hillman, Education Coordinator for the Historical Museum Association of St. James-Assiniboia.
Our students and staff frequently visit the Historical Museum of St. James-Assiniboia, located at the corner of Banting Drive and Portage Avenue (3180 Portage Ave.), to learn more about the history of our area dating back to when the two-storey Red River Frame House was built in 1856. The museum offers guided tours, Heritage Day events, children’s programs and educational opportunities for our community to enjoy all year long. We are pleased to show our support for all the great work that they do in promoting the rich history and heritage of St. James-Assiniboia.
