Know your public health orders before travelling during spring break

March 24, 2021

springbreaktravel11.jpgThe Government of Canada continues to advise all Canadians to avoid non-essential travel until further notice; however, if you choose to travel, ensure you make yourself aware of the following public health orders.

As per the public health order, 14 days of self-isolation are required for returning or coming to Manitoba from all jurisdictions. Individuals who travelled internationally or inter-provincially must go into mandatory self-isolation (quarantine) for 14 days from the arrival date to Manitoba.

All travellers are strongly advised to get two COVID-19 tests (one on the day of arrival and another on the day ten after arriving in Manitoba) regardless of whether they are displaying symptoms and visiting Manitoba or are returning from out of the country.

For information on travel and the self-isolation requirements, see https://www.gov.mb.ca/covid19/restartmb/prs/orders/index.html#travel-self-isolation.

Travel to Cottages or Second Properties

Manitobans should limit travel to essential purposes only. Travel to cottages or second properties for recreational purposes is not recommended.

Note: Manitoba currently has a Northern Manitoba travel restriction in place, so if your cottage or second property is in Northern Manitoba, please read the order.

If you choose to visit a cottage or second property outside of Manitoba for recreational purposes, be aware of all public health orders, including any self-isolations requirements, in the jurisdiction you are visiting:

For information on travel to cottages or second properties, see https://www.gov.mb.ca/covid19/restartmb/prs/orders/index.html#travel-cottages

Note: Critical services workers are not exempt from provincial 14-day self-isolation requirements if they travel for leisure purposes. The current provincial Public Health Orders provide an exemption from the self-isolation requirements to allow critical services workers to travel and provide critical services (i.e., travel related to their critical worker duties).

To review the current public health orders, see 2-col Regulation template (gov.mb.ca)
