St. James-Assiniboia School Division sponsors the Canada Wide Science Festival Award which is given to a project in Grades 7–12 which demonstrates high achievement in either research, design process, and/or scientific method and have met the Science Fair Committee’s eligibility requirements. The award entitles the winner to an all-expense paid trip to compete at Canada’s National Science Fair, which this year took place in Regina, May 15-20. During the week, students from all provinces and territories showcased their projects for judges and the public. Four students from St. James-Assiniboia School Division attended the event, including:
Rowan N. from Bruce Middle School with her project "Is That Oil You Got?"
Noah D. from College Sturgeon Heights Collegiate with his project "Material Swings"
Tharindu K. from Bruce Middle School with his project "Energy from a Backpack" and
Sameer B. from Lincoln Middle School with his project "Solar Power – The Future of Energy"
Congratulations to these four representatives as they all did a fantastic job creating, researching and showcasing their projects. A special applause for Noah D. and Tharindu K. for earning two bronze medals at the 2017 Canada Wide Science Fair. We hope all four scientists enjoyed taking part in the national event and look forward to seeing where your sense of curiousity and passion for science leads you in the future!
