Everyday students in SJASD are supported inside and outside the classroom by over 880 support staff workers and casual, non-teaching staff members that undertake numerous roles throughout the Division.
As SJASD marks School Support Staff Recognition Week, it's important to take a moment to recognize the critical work these employment groups play in the K to 12 education system.
From bus drivers and crossing guards that ensure students arrive to school safely, to educational assistants and community liaison workers that support student learning and well-being. To administrative and clerical workers that connect parents to their schools and ensure the bills are paid and the lights are on. These roles are very important to students and their families.
Custodians, cleaning staff and maintenance personnel have held an outsized role over the last few years, helping to ensure the health and safety of SJASD workplaces during the COVID-19 pandemic. And the SJASD IT department has done outstanding work to keep students connected during remote learning and continues to bring new information technology solutions to the classroom.
Thanks as well to SJASD library technicians for connecting students to resources, and to lunch supervisors for helping to keep students fed, fueled and ready to learn.
Together with the work of over 1,000 teachers, substitute teachers, and division administrators, SJASD's educational support workers make a vital contribution to the education of students.
Thank you for your commitment to teaching and learning in SJASD.
