On October 26, 2022, members of the St. James-Assiniboia School Division community voted for their ward representatives to serve on the SJASD Board of Trustees. Before we welcome new and returning members to the Board, SJASD would like to send a special note of thanks to retiring Trustees. Thank you to:

Jennifer Lawson, East Ward. Jennifer joined the Board in 2010. She retires as the outgoing Vice Chair of the Board. Jennifer has also served as the Chair of the Education and Personnel committees. Jennifer has been committed to supporting all students in meeting their potential through effective educational programs, including academics, the arts, athletics, trades programs and special education.

She also sat on the Finance and Facilities Committee and served as the Board Municipal Council Liaison and Student Council Liaison. Nicole continues to value community service and has three children attending school in the Division.

Craig Johnson, Centre Ward. Craig was first elected in 2010 and has served as Chair of the Finance and Facilities Committee, the Governance Committee, and the Personnel Committee. He has worked to promote bus safety, accessibility, the development of new technology and quality facilities.

Bryan Metcalfe, Centre Ward. Bryan has served for eight, non-consecutive years on the SJASD Board. He was first elected to a four-year term in 2010, and after a break was elected again in 2018. Bryan has served as Chair of the Finance and Facilities Committee, and has served on several committees including Personnel, Education, Awards and Scholarship, and Community Engagement. He is a long-time resident of the area and community volunteer.

Bruce Chegus, West Ward. Bruce has been a Trustee for over 34 years. He was first elected in February 1988 and served as Board Chair for eight terms until September 2013. He also served as the Education Committee Chair for six terms and retires his current role as Chair of the Governance Committee. Bruce oversaw numerous changes in the Division over the years, including the implementation of technology into the classroom and changes in student enrollment.
