β
Once again this year, SJASD is inviting students to take part in the fourth annual βWheel" Challenge.
The event takes place from May 21 to June 10, 2024, and encourages children and youth to cycle, roller-skate, rollerblade, scooter, skateboard, use a wheelchair, or any other form of wheels to get active and have fun.
Contestants complete a nine-squared bingo card with different challenges and then submit it for a chance to win a $500 shopping spree from local retailer White Pine Bicycle Co.
The event started in 2021 during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic when families were stuck inside and couldn't even cycle with anyone outside their immediate family. Since then, it has become a highly anticipated annual event with hundreds of students participating each year.
While only three students can win each year, J.J. Ross, SJASD's Physical Education and Health Education Coordinator, says it's really about wellness and getting active.
"We want to encourage students and families to ride as it compliments so many things in our physical education programs."
The official draw will take place after June 10.
Good luck to all the challenge goers!
