Grade 9 students and their families are getting ready explore careers in the long-standing annual Canadian program.
The day gives Grade 9 students a chance to accompany a parent, guardian, family friend, or community host to their workplace and experience a real workday.
The theme for 2025 is Lift Up the Future, and is a call to support young people as they explore their paths and imagine the world they want to build.
Over 400.000 students across Canada participate each year.
SJASD Career Development Counsellor & Work Placement Teacher Janet Frolek says it's a great program to get students thinking about their future. βThey get to learn more about what a workplace is like, and this can prompt them to then start thinking about where they might like to work after high school or post-secondary."
School administrators have sent home information and required forms to families of Grade 9 students. An employed adult needs to contact their workplace and/or make arrangements for their child prior to TOKTW.
Caregivers with questions can reach out to school administrators.
Thanks to all the workplaces that will be welcoming students on November 5, 2025.
