Hello Bruce families!

As we wind down this school year, please accept our heartfelt gratitude for all your support this year. The pandemic has shifted all our roles in significant ways, so whether you have helped your child navigate Microsoft Teams, ensuring they are working on their at-home days or providing extra mental health support, please know it has not gone unnoticed and we thank you for being along side us.

Tomorrow will be the end of your child’s regular Teams meetings with their teachers. They should have completed all necessary work to demonstrate their learning for teachers who are planning on doing a wrap up activity with their classes.

June 21-25

Next week students will have inspirational presentations by some of Winnipeg’s leaders from a variety of fields. These presentations will occur at 9:00 A.M., 11:00 A.M. AND 1:00 P.M. Invitations to join these meetings will be found through their ELA team chat. We hope that students will join the likes of Andrew Harris, John Janzen (Siloam Mission), Keegan Kolesar (Las Vegas Golden Knights), Natasha Moodie (Author, human rights champion), Alice RL (Ojibway artist) and many more in finding inspiration and one’s passion then taking next steps to achieve their dreams.

Students will be accessing these presentations at home, so please contact the school if you have concerns around access or technology. In between sessions, students can begin to return any outstanding materials such as textbooks, library books and iPads to the school and pick up their yearbooks and personal items left behind. The end of this email has some information on Monday’s presenters.

While some teachers will be facilitating these sessions, our grade 8 team will be meeting with our grade 8 students in small groups to celebrate their three years at Bruce. For obvious reasons, we will not be hosting large gatherings. Grade 8 students will receive a token from the school, have a chance to socialize with teachers and each other one last time. Details will be sent to families separately by Mr. Weber.
