Hello Bruce families!
It is hard to believe that January has come and gone (but we’re glad it is!) Mrs. Waters and I hope all of our families and extended families are doing well as we all continue to cope with the pandemic. We are not out of the woods yet, so please remind your children for the need to continue to wear their masks, keep socially distanced and stay home if feeling unwell.
February is usually open house month and registration for divisional schools and this year is no different. We have already sent home registration forms with our current grade 6 and 7 students, please ask for them if you haven’t already done so. Grade 8 (going into grade 9) students will receive their registration forms from us on February 11 or 12, depending on their team number.
As a reminder for all about the process, all parents must fill out a registration form for their current school or their catchment school if moving between levels, even if you are doing remote school or home school. If you wish to apply for a school of choice outside your catchment, there will be a link provided on the divisional website on Feb. 12 for you to submit your choice.
The registration form is already pre-filled with your demographic information, please review it for accuracy, make any necessary changes, sign all sections and return it to the school with your child. In-catchment students in grade 6 who live 1.6 km or further from Bruce will qualify for bussing. The opportunity for all other students to apply for purchased bus seats will be made available after September 30th, 2021.
Schools will be holding virtual information evenings in March and more information will be coming shortly.
Finally, please note that February 8 is an in-service day with no school.
