Hello Bruce Parents and Guardians,

We have had a great start up for the new school year! Thank you for your part in getting the students ready for the return to learning and setting them up for success. We are excited that extra-curriculars, intramurals and band have been reintroduced.

A couple of changes are worth noting this week:

1. With the addition of the new National Day for Truth and Reconcilliation, we have moved the Parent Council AGM to Wednesday, September 29 at 6:30 pm. If you plan to attend, please send an email to April Waters (april.waters@sjasd.ca) to be sent an invite to the virtual event.

2. Due to surging enrollment at Bruce, we have been given an additional teacher unit and we will use this staffing to split our three grade 6 classes into four. This split will allow us to spread out our unvaccinated students a little more and create a safer space for all. We are hoping to have the new teacher in place as early as next week. The next step is to create a new class list by removing 6-7 students from each class. Apart from a new teacher for some, this will not affect student's programming in a large way. Affected families will receive a separate email with further details.
