Terry Fox Run 2021

Most people have had a family member or friend affected in some way by cancer. Forty - one years ago on April 12, 1980, Terry Fox began his historic run to raise funds and awareness for cancer research. Terry’s courage and determination in attempting to run across Canada despite having lost more than half of one of his legs due to osteogenic sarcoma united Canadians in a way that we have never seen. He is considered one of the greatest Canadians in the way that he inspired others. Even though Terry passed away on June 28, 1981, his legacy lives on in the annual Terry Fox Runs seen across communities and schools across Canada. Next Friday, October 1, Bruce Middle School will hold our own annual Terry Fox Run. Grade 6’s will run in period 6, grade 7’s will run in period 7 and grade 8’s will run in period 8. We are asking that all students bring in a minimum two dollar donation (Toonie for Terry) to their homeroom teacher any day next week in support of cancer research for the Terry Fox Foundation
