Hello Bruce Parents and Guardians,

I hope all is well with you and yours. I think we are far enough into the school year to say we hit a good rhythm in the school with students being productive and deep into their courses and many activities under way.

We are proud to say we finished 2nd overall for Cross Country, not too shabby for one of the smaller schools in the division. Congratulations to the team and their coaches Mrs. Ingram and Mrs. Yard! Tier 1 and 2 volleyball teams have done really well in their first couple of games and intramural sports have begun at lunch time. It’s hard to express how much we have missed the sounds of fun and laughter coming from the gym. I won’t even complain about the sweatiness that accompanies it all.

The Jets Hockey academy begun this last week with 50 students going to the Iceplex for fittings on Thursday. Every Wednesday they will head out to the rink to continue to learn about the sport of hockey, sportsmanship, and healthy living among many other objectives. The Friday afterschool portion should begin shortly.

With Hallowe’en coming up next weekend, we will be having a spirit week next week. Each day will have a dress up theme and some activity planned for classes. Monday is an easy one – comfy day! Each day should be easy for all students to be involved. For Friday’s costume day, please note that we will not allow any weapon (swords, knives, guns and so on) no matter how toy-like. These items can be triggering for some. Also, masks that cover the full face are not permitted. Please see below for themes of the day.PS-BMS SPIRIT WEEK OCT 2021.jpg

We will host Parent-Teacher conferences on Wednesday, November 10 from 4pm-7pm. All divisional middle schools will be hosting virtual meetings. Since we are working with limited time slots, we ask parents to book one slot only at this time for one of your child’s teachers. If you have questions  for another teacher, pleases send them an email and they will respond. Report cards will come out at the beginning of December.

Finally, keep the 29th of November circled on your calendar for immunizations. While we hear the rumours of COVID vaccines coming for our grade 6 students, this date will be about catching up on the other ‘usual’ vaccines that students receive through the school:

Grade 6 and 7 – Meningococcal Conjugate Quadrivalant, Hepatitis B, HPV, Flu

Garde 8 – Tetanus, Diphtheria, Pertussis, Flu

HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND!
