Hello Bruce Families,

We are already into the last days of November/first days of December. With only three full weeks and 3 days left before the break, it won’t be long before major projects and tests are due. I will ask teachers to make sure you are well informed of their timelines leading up to the 22nd.

With the holidays coming – Christmas, Hannukah, Kwanza, Omisoka, among others – we want to acknowledge the many ways different cultures celebrate at this time of the year. We will create visual displays for each celebration and include descriptions on the announcements for all to hear. If you have something to share, please do! We love to learn about the many ways our families celebrate so please send an email our way.

One tradition that is returning is the Holiday Bazaar. We will be hosting the traditional Holiday bazar again December 8, 9 and 10. Keep your eyes peeled for a letter that will be coming from the organizers soon.

Congratulations to our Tier 1 and 2 Volleyball teams for a great season! It was great to see and hear the energy in the gym and the spirit of competition/cooperation again. Thank you to our coaches – Mr Kostiuk, Mrs. Yard, Ms Brown, Mrs. Wark, Mrs. McCasin and Ms Woodcroft for all your time and efforts. Thank you, parents and guardians, for tuning in to the Youtube channel and supporting our teams.  We will recognize outstanding efforts at our awards ceremony on the 30th. The ceremony will be virtual at the school, but we will also record it and upload the video to our Youtube channel as soon as we can.

Basketball try outs will be continuing this week. Monday and Tuesday for the grade 7/8 boys Monday and Wednesday 5-6:30 and Girls Tuesday/Thursday 3:30-5:00.

Congratulations to Ms Presber and all students who cleaned up the community in the fall. They were acknowledged by the Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society (MB chapter) for their efforts.

Many students will be receiving their vaccinations tomorrow from Public Health nurses throughout the day. Theses are the annual, regularly scheduled or catch-up vaccines students routinely receive through the school. Please remember that the recommended wait time between these and the COVID 19 vaccine is 2 weeks.

Speaking of vaccines, be advised that all students will be required to receive the COVID 19 vaccine before they can participate in any after school activity. There are also public and private venues that will require a proof of vaccination if we return to field trips in the near future.

Finally, don’t forget that Friday is a Professional development day, so no school for students. We will also be having our December staff meeting Tuesday, December 7 so that will be a shortened day.

Have a great week everyone!
