Hello Bruce Families!

Thank you for your trust, patience and understanding as continue to navigate the latest expectations in schools. We are thankful that so many families have been following COVID 19 protocols as prescribed by the province – self-screen, wear a mask, get vaccinated and isolate if sick. The protocols have prevented the spread of cases in the school and helped develop a sense of safety in the building.

We had our first staff book sick because of COVID this week and only 6 students reported ill because of the pandemic. That did not mean we had a full house – far from it. We had between 50 and 82 students away for each of the week this week, some for other illness, appointments, anxiety around school safety or the pandemic and SNOW! If you are reporting your child sick it is imperative that we be told if it is due to COVID. While we no longer do contact tracing, letting us know if COVID is affecting your child is helpful in identifying possible trends within the building which we need to communicate to public health. This information will not be shared outside of the building and is only for internal purposes. The division will be implementing a new attendance code next week to report an absence due to COVID 19.

Despite the pandemic and the terrible weather we still had a great week in school. Here are some important announcements:

  • Jets Hockey Academy is paused until the week of February 7.
  • Basketball has restarted and the schedule has been changed to reflect the remote week last week.
  • Registration forms for next year will go home next week on the 28th. Forms will be pre-printed with demographic information for current students and are due back February 11.

Have a great weekend!
