We have had a great start to the school year! We are back to near-normal operations for the school year and the students are eager to get involved. We will try to send a weekly email to let know of upcoming events, but please check out our website for more information.

Yearbooks were handed out at lunch yesterday for grade 7 & 8 students. Those who did not receive their yearbook can come to the office for their copy.

Bruce Wear is available by going through the following website:  https://bmssept2022.itemorder.com Please note that the online store closes this Sunday.

Immunizations for grade 6-8 students are happening this month on the 22nd. Electronic forms for information and consent were emailed to families earlier in a previous email. Please note that the deadline for form completion is this Thursday.

Volleyball ID camps have begun for boys and girls at all competitive levels. This is a chance to show the coaches which team – Tier 1, Tier 2 or Atomic – is best for your child. Boys are practicing Wednesday morning at 7:15 and the girls are after school on Wednesday and Thursday. If they have missed the first two days they are still welcome to attend.

Cross country running has also begun! Practices are Wednesday after school and Friday 7:45am with the first meet taking place on Monday at St. James Collegiate. Does your child need to blow off some extra steam? Cross Country!

With the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation coming up on the 30th, students and staff will be asked to wear orange Every Child Matter shirts on Sept 29th to show support for this movement. The day honours the children who never returned home and Survivors of residential schools, as well as their families and communities. Public commemoration of the tragic and painful history and ongoing impacts of residential schools is a vital component of the reconciliation process. Please remind your child to bring a water bottle to school.

Enjoy the rest of your week!
