Every February, hundreds of grade 12 students across Manitoba write the provincial mathematics contest from the University of Manitoba. This year, due to her outstanding achievement on the Manitoba Mathematical Competition contest, John Taylor Collegiate student (Malinda) Linhui Huang was invited to the MMC contest dinner for the top 5 achievers in Manitoba. The dinner and cash prizes were sponsored by the Winnipeg Actuaries Club, the University of Manitoba, MAMT and the Canadian Mathematical Society. Malinda finished as the top female contestant in the entire province.
