ATHLETE OF THE MONTH: Delaney Groot

Our athlete of the month is Delaney Groot. She actively searches out camps and sport workshops to participate in to better herself as an athlete.  Delaney has participated in 6 volleyball camps since March, as well as a basketball camp.  During the summer she commuted from Gimli to Winnipeg for every camp, sometimes 5 times a week.  She is presently in the "New Kids on the Block" volleyball camp.  She has been pre-selected for the 14U Junior Bison Gold Volleyball team for January. Delaney spent the summer working on her serves and spikes on her outdoor volleyball court, as well as working on her distance running. This summer she participated in the CMU volleyball/basketball camp where she injured her right wrist. Instead of withdrawing from the camp, she learned to shoot baskets with her left hand.  She is determined and committed to everything she participates in. She thrives being part of a team and loves to encourage others to do their best. Delaney has made strong connections with her coaches and knows that by listening she can learn.  Delaney has loved every minute of her time in the Lincoln gym and cannot wait until she can be back there again.  Keep up the great work Delaney!​
