May 5th is Murdered and Missing Indigenous Women, Girls, and Two-Spirit People Day across Canada. Throughout the week, we will honour those who have been lost to violence and who continue to face disproportionate rates of violence in their communities. There will be a presentation during grade group meetings to bring awareness to this issue as well as a sharing of the book, “If I Go Missing." Some of the information shared could be triggering to students. Space and support will be provided should any students feel overwhelmed or uncomfortable. Our school guidance counsellor, Mrs. Mercier, Mrs. Lowe, and Mr. Lizotte will be available if students would like to debrief beyond the presentation.
