Siloam Mission Field Trip

January 23, 2018

The Helping Hands Club, alongside Ms. Mott and Ms. Metelski, took a trip to Siloam Mission on January 19th.  Students involved in the club have spent many hours creating reusable bags from old t-shirts, while simultaneously collecting and sorting donations to give away to the center.  In addition, many families and community members have made generous donations which has helped in the Helping Hand's Effort.  We would like to thank everyone who has made a contribution to the students' labour of love.

While at Siloam Mission, students learned about the center, asked very many meaningful questions, toured the grounds, and gave their all in the donation center, where they sorted donated clothing items into various categories.

Did you know that Siloam Mission has a population consisting of 80% male and 20% female clientele?  There are 120 beds for people to use for the night, and these beds are always full. Siloam Mission gives back to Winnipeg's homeless population in so many ways, including by providing medical and dental care, field trip opportunities, transitional and long-term housing, and various services.  Siloam Mission depends on donations, and donations for the center are always welcome.
