COVID-19 Rapid antigen test kits available for students K-6

December 21, 2021

MBgovrapidtest.jpgThe Manitoba Government has announced that COVID-19 Rapid antigen test kits will be available for students from Kindergarten to Grade 6. The test kit contains five rapid antigen COVID-19 tests that parents can administer to each child every three or four days as students return to school in January 2022.

Participation is voluntary and children who do not take the rapid test will be allowed to return to school in January.

Rapid antigen tests are another tool that can help screen for COVID-19 and can provide peace of mind to parents and caregivers. Anyone who tests positive with the antigen tests would then take a confirmatory PCR COVID-19 test prior to entering school.

At this time, we await additional information from the Manitoba Government. We will update SJASD families on December 30, 2021, via School Messenger regarding test availability and possible pick-up sites in your family of schools community.

As an expression of interest, if you wish to pick-up a COVID-19 rapid antigen test kit when they become available, please complete the online request form below by December 22, 2021, at 4:00 pm.

Note: If you DO NOT want the rapid test kit, no action is required.

Only students in Kindergarten to Grade 6 are eligible to receive a COVID-19 rapid antigen test kit.
