The staff and students of Sansome School are excited to be learning from and working with dancer, choreographer and entrepreneur Buffy Handel and the Aboriginal School of Dance.  Buffy has provided ongoing cultural mentorship for our staff, integrated lesson plans that encourage a greater inclusion of First Nations perspectives within our classrooms, and artistic experiences for all students that will be shared with our community.

February – Our grade 4 and 5 students focused on drumming and singing.  They will continue to improve upon their skills and learn a number of songs for a May performance.

March – Our Kindergarten, grade 1 and grade ½ students are focusing on the significance of the medicine wheel and Powwow Dancing.  They will continue practicing these skills throughout the month for a May performance.

April – Along with the concepts of the Medicine Wheel, our grade 2 and grade 3 students will be working with the visual art of masks and mask making.

May – The entire school will view each other's talents and participate in the tradition of storytelling.  The date and times of this event will be shared soon.
