Basketball and volleyball are sports that have a strong tradition over the years in Winnipeg.  These two sports help teach our kids the values of commitment, team play and personal and social growth in a friendly and fun environment.

Westwood Collegiate and Warriors Athletics have been a strong part of this solid sports tradition as they are getting set to run their 8th annual Mini Warriors Spring Basketball and Volleyball program in an effort to assist with the grass roots development of these two popular sports.

This year, during the week of March 5th – 9th , all students from grades 2 to 5 will have the opportunity to participate in some of the activities from Westwood Collegiate's Mini-Warriors program either at Sansome or at Westwood Collegiate. Teachers Sarah Lundgren (U of M Can West All-Star and double silver medallist as a provincial team coach) will be the head instructor for most basketball sessions and Bryan Enns (U of M Player of the Year, Team Canada member, 2017 High School Coach of the Year) will be the head instructor for most volleyball sessions.

Tuesday, March 6th two Grades 4/5 classrooms will travel to Westwood right after recess. They will do volleyball first for 30 min and then basketball for 30 min.

Wedesday, March 7th the coaches will come to Sansome and work with the Grade 2's for 40 minutes during the lunch hour and just focus on basketball.

Thursday, March 8th the other two Grades 4/5 classrooms will travel to Westwood right after recess. They will do volleyball first for 30 min and then basketball for 30 min.

Friday, March 9th the coaches will come to Sansome and work with the Grade 3's for 40 min during the lunch hour and just focus on basketball.
