Poverty and Education--High School Student Survey and Request for Multimedia Submissions

May 12, 2022

Following recommendations from the Commission on Kindergarten to Grade 12 education in Manitoba, the Poverty and Education Task Force was launched in September 2021. The key responsibilities of the task force are to examine joint issues of poverty and education in Manitoba, as well as to put forth advice on areas of action to the Minister of Education and Early Childhood Learning.

As part of our overall engagement work, we are welcoming all students in Grades 9 to 12 across Manitoba to complete a survey, with an opportunity to submit an optional multi-media response. Students who are aged 14 to 21, but not registered in school are also encouraged to participate.

Attached you will find a poster and an information letter for parents and guardians. Please share this information with your schools and community partners. Participation is voluntary. All responses and submissions will be anonymous. We ask that schools place the poster in a highly visible location for students.

How to participate: Students are asked to submit their feedback via

1)       the Smartsheet link

2)       hard copy submissions to the office

Timeframe: We are asking that the submissions be completed and submitted no later than June 3, 2022.
