It is with great thunderous fanfare that we announce that March’s band students of the month are the wonderful Mikenna S and the fabulous Emma P.

Emma plays first clarinet in our Gr.10 concert band and has a quiet leadership that truly assists her section and the band. One of the important jobs that Emma has is tuning the band at the beginning of every rehearsal. She takes on this task with great pride and ensures that we are all ready to start rehearsal. Emma is also extremely approachable, and she is often the “go to” in the clarinet section for assistance. In addition, she is one of the first people to class and always ready with a smile to share.

Mikenna plays first trumpet in concert band and 2nd trumpet in our jazz band, the Rouge Road Renegades. In concert band, she is generous leader who is always approachable and willing to assist anyone who asks. She is also a confident player whose sound helps pull the ensemble together. In jazz band, she tackles the harmony parts with ease and is a diligent and consistent soloist. She is always there with a smile and ready to jump in thoughtfully into any musical conversations.

These two are a big part of what makes Gr. 10 band so fun. Congratulations girls!​
