Happy Sunday Bear Families!
It's been another busy week at BMS!
We were very impressed with the level of engagement our students had as they participated in Student Vote at the beginning of the week. They learned about the democratic process, including the importance of having an informed perspective and the power of their voices to make change.
Physical Activity this week
Our Tier 2 Badminton plays enjoyed a morning tournament amongst other SJASD school division students where they represented themselves and our school well. Our WJHA teams wrapped up an excellent year of skill building, teamwork and mentorship, with their final games on Wednesday. And the nicer weather has many students actively engaged in friendly competition on the soccer field, baseball court and 4 square area, over the lunch hour.
Heritage Fair
We want to give a huge congratulations to 6 students who competed this week at the Red River Heritage Fair. Naveah, Morgan, Maddi, Finn, Emily, and Lucy all put a ton of time and dedication into their projects. Each student competed with confidence and impressed the public, judges, and teachers. Finn was also able to win the Selkirk Settlement Award and Morgan was able to win the Manitoba Historical Society Award. Congrats Bears and we hope to build on this success in 2026!
Finally, we ended our week today with staff engaging in learning and collaboration about Trauma-Sensitive Classrooms, during our PD sessions.
In the week ahead:
- Monday, May 5th - National Day of Remembrance for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls - students will learn about this movement through a variety of Grade Level Activities today and throughout the week. Please see attached Parent Letter.
