Cell Phones at Collège Sturgeon Heights Collegiate
Cell phone use will not be permitted in class. Students are expected to put their cell phones in the designated spot upon entering the classroom or store it in their locker. Cell phones are only permitted during transition periods and over the lunch hour.

1. When can my student use their mobile device?
Cell phones can be used during class transitions, spares, and over the lunch hour. The goal is for students to not use their cell phones during instructional time to help them focuss on learning.
2. What do I do if I need to contact my student during the school day?
If at any time you need to contact your student, please contact the school office at (204)888-0684. If there is an emergency, our office staff will ensure the message reaches your student.
3. What if my student requires their cell phone for a medical condition?
Exceptions will be made for students who need to use mobile devices to support, monitor or regulate their health or medical conditions. Please contact school administration to discuss these needs. Administration will notify teachers of the student’s needs.
4. What if my student needs to use their cell phone for research, translation, calculator, etc.?
The school has ample resources available for student use that will be provided by teachers to meet specific needs. Students will be able to access class notes and assignments through Microsoft TEAMS.
5. What if there is an emergency situation in the school (hold and secure, lockdown, etc.)? How will I know my student is okay?
During these rare situations, the school needs to be control communication in and out of the building. Individual students communicating on personal devices can have an impact on the school’s ability to communicate effectively.
