The Green Hearts Club as well as the rest of the staff and students are excited to celebrate Earth Day on April 22. 2019.  In fact, we are so excited, we have designated April as Earth Month.  We will be celebrating our wonderful planet and discussing ways we can help it.  One of the celebrations include an Earth Day spirit week. 

   Monday, Apr. 22          Wear Blue and Green Day to represent the land and water
                                          that need protection.

Tuesday, Apr. 23          Dress as Mother Nature

Wednesday, Apr.24     Garden Day, dress has a gardener, fruit, vegetable, flower, or 
                                        pollinator

Thursday, Apr.25         Hippie/Activist Day, we can all do more to stand up for clean
                                        air and water.

The Green Hearts Club will also be having their annual used toy and book sale.  This sale helps prevent unwanted toys and books from ending up in landfills and raises money for a non-profit organization. This year, monies raised will go towards the Manitoba Wilderness Committee and Kismet Creek Farm.  The success of this toy sale is dependent on donations from Athlone families.  We are asking families to donate gently used toys that have been outgrown or are no longer played with.  Books, complete puzzle sets, board games, cars, building sets, craft sets, are just a few examples of toys that can be donated.  Please do not send broken toys or toys/games with missing parts, Happy Meal toys, or Kinder-Egg toys.  For hygienic reasons, we will not be accepting any stuffed animals/toys.  Toys can be brought to school until Monday, May 13th.  The toys will then be sorted and put on display for the sale onTuesday, May 14th.  All items will be priced for $1.00, $2.00 or $3.00.
