The community of St. James-Assiniboia School Division has deep Indigenous roots. These lands and waters are the traditional territories of the Anishinaabeg, the Ininewak, and the Dakota Oyate peoples. It is the birthplace and national homeland of the Red River Métis. It is also home to members of the Denesuline, the Anisininewuk, and Inuit nations.
