Throughout the month of February, our students will be learning about the many accomplishments and contributions of Black Canadians and their history. This will happen daily during our morning announcements, through an interactive bulletin board, and during grade group presentations provided by Black History Manitoba on the morning of Wednesday Feb. 14th, 2024. These presentations will be given by Andre Sheppard who served in the Canadian Armed Forces for 36 years. Andre's presentation will focus on his own life story, celebrate the achievements of famous Manitobans and then branch into the stereotyping and slang that exists in the USA in contrast to Canada, where these words came from, and why the language of respect and equality matters so much.
