How do I know if my child is eligible to attend Kindergarten?

All children registering for Kindergarten must be five years old by December 31, 2023, (born in 2019) to register for Kindergarten starting in September 2024.  

How do I know if Buchanan School is my catchment area school?

All students must register at their catchment area school.

How do I register my child for Kindergarten?

Step 1:

Paper copies are also available upon request by contacting the school at 204-888-0680.

Step 2:

Email your completed registration form to the school office at buchanan@sjasd.ca on or after February 9, 2024.  A confirmation email will be sent to you indicating that your registration form has been received.

Please note that the following documentation is required for final approval of registration. 

• Birth Certificate
• If your child is not born in Canada, you will be required to provide citizenship papers or one of the following documents: Permanent Resident card, Record of Landing, Valid Work Permit/Visa, Valid Study Permit
• Manitoba Health card showing child & parent names
• 2 Proofs of Residency (eg. MB medical card, valid Manitoba driver's license, lease agreement, house title or other official documents indicating address of residence.)

Parents may choose to submit copies of this required documentation if they are submitting a hard copy registration form to the office. They will be contacted at a later date to confirm this documentation.

How do I express my interest to possibly attend a different school that is not my catchment area school?

All students must first register at their catchment area school.
