My name is Roné Boyko and it is an honour to introduce myself as the new Principal of St. James Collegiate. I have been an educator in the St. James-Assiniboia School Division for 25 years and had the privilege of serving as Principal at both the Early Years and Middle Years levels. I am now thrilled to have the opportunity to be part of the incredible St. James Collegiate Community and look forward to the learning ahead. I also look forward to getting to know the staff, students, and you, their families. Thank you for the kind and warm welcome to this community.
My philosophy as an educator is deeply student-centred. Students will always be my priority. I am driven by finding the best opportunities for each of them while working to create a culture of inclusion and belonging, so they feel confident enough to take the risks necessary for learning and growing. To do this, I value the partnership with our staff, leadership team, and Vice-Principals Mr. Jon Sorokowksi and Ms. Christina Spafford.
The staff at St. James Collegiate is committed to fostering a safe and nurturing educational environment where students feel a strong sense of belonging, take care of themselves and each other, value their learning, and take pride in their achievements. We believe in learning about and honouring our rich diversity while developing strong relationships and partnerships with our families and community members. These beliefs are essential components that play a significant role in the growth, development, and individual success of our students.
The staff at SJC care deeply about our students and work to provide them with a meaningful and engaging high school experience. They are constantly furthering their professional learning and development to create the best educational environment for our students and lead them towards graduation while developing as positive, productive citizens.
