Welcome back from the EXTRA-Long Weekend Bruce Bears and Families!

We have definitely noticed the drop in temperatures recently.  Please make sure all students are dressing for the weather. And speaking of the weather, we invite our students to participate in our Divisional Sock-Tober and Mittens for Mitch Project this month, in an effort to help our community members who are experiencing homelessness this winter. Please see attached poster for details about the importance of this initiative. Socktober Letter of Support 2024.pdf

Starting today we will be collecting new socks, mittens and gloves to donate for those who are unsheltered. Each time you bring in a donation you will get a pink ticket. Print your name and room number on the back and return it to your homeroom teacher. Every day the tickets and donations will be returned to the front hallway. At the end of each week a student's name will be drawn for a prize. Remember, each time you bring a pair of socks, mittens or gloves you get a ticket. The more pairs you bring in, the better your chances. A class-by-class tally chart will be located in the library window. The homeroom with the most donations at the end will earn a class pizza party!

You have the power to make someone’s winter a little warmer and their life a little easier! We will be making our first draw this Friday.

We are very excited to be heading to Camp Manitou with our Grade 6 students on Thursday this week. The camp is an outdoor camp so please make sure students are dressed to be comfortable outside for the majority of the day, and please send a bagged lunch.  If your child has not handed in a Consent Form or made payment, please make arrangements to submit these items right away. Please contact Ms. Presber (Grade 6 Team Leader) at jenni.presber@sjasd.ca or  Mrs. Kent (Principal) at 204-888-1990 if you have any questions.

All students who had their photos taken should have received their Proofs last week, along with ordering information through Lifetouch.  November 1st in the morning only, Lifetouch will be here to do retakes for any students requiring them.

Reminder that Healthy Hunger Subway orders are due online this Friday October 18th. Subway will deliver our orders Thursday October 24th. Please make sure you let your child know if you ordered for them. Every school year Healthy Hunger deletes all accounts so everyone will need to create a new account.
