Hello Bruce Families!

I hope you are doing well and finding some peace amid the changes going on around us. We have made some changes at Bruce as well, as we prepare for next week. As you have most likely heard, we are moving to alternate day attendance for the grade 7 and 8 classes to allow for all students to be spaced at 2m. This next level of safety will prevent students from becoming a “close contact” if there is a COVID case in the school.

Mrs. Waters and Mrs. Yard have created some supporting documents to help students and parents organize the day when working from home. One document is a visual schedule to chunk the day into learning blocks and a second document that contains tips to help with mindfulness and keeping active. While working at home, students will also be expected to meet with their teacher at a designated time and even participate in synchronous learning opportunities as they become available. Starting Wednesday the 25th, Grade 8 students will be expected to be online at 10:15 to meet their teacher and Grade 7 students will meet at 11:00 with theirs and will continue doing so every day at home.

Next week has been proclaimed by the Minister of Education as Bullying Awareness and Prevention week so we will be engaged in discussions with students next week to create meaning around that.

Next Friday is an administrative day for teachers so that they can write report cards and the following Monday and Tuesday has been designated PD days so please mark those on your calendars as no-school days.

Stay safe and well and have a good weekend.
