Hello Bruce Families – Happy Friday!
One more Friday before the break (but who’s counting? lol) The Winter break will be December 22nd until January 4, with students returning on the 5th. If you are planning an earlier start or later ending to the break, please contact the school office to let us know.
Thank you to all families for the generous cereal donations. We were able to deliver over 250 cereal boxes to Sturgeon Heights for the Christmas Hampers that will go to divisional families. Congratulations to 8A for donating the most boxes in December and will receive a pizza party next Friday for their efforts.
We would also like to thank those families that have donated to the Christmas sale. We will price and display all items for the sale that will last most of next week. It is not too late to donate new or gently used items towards the sale. This can include decorative pieces that are no longer treasured, books, toys, household items, and other goods that might be valued by someone else. The students LOVE being able to buy items (usually for less than a dollar) that they can then gift to their loved ones.
Spirit week will begin on Thursday, December 15 and here is the order:
December 15 – High Fashion day – wear your most fashionable (or terribly unfashionable) outfit. This is to coincide with the grade 8 fashion show put on by the grade 8 French classes
December 16 – Pyjama day
December 19 – Plaid, Tartan or Flannel
December 20 – Bruce Wear
December 21 – Ugly sweater day (or wear holiday colours – don’t forget Hannukah or Kwanza colours!)
Finally, we will be welcoming Mrs. Nadia Cantafio to the Vice Principal position starting January 5. Mrs. Cantafio is currently teaching grade 7 at Hedges Middle school and has a wealth of knowledge around pedagogy, child development and curricular design from her time at early and middle years schools.
