Hello Bruce Families!

This month we are focusing on the qualities of generosity and community with the students. We have two fundraisers to meet the needs of our community and we ask that you and your family consider supporting where you can.

First, we are collecting gently used jackets, toques, and mitts for the Koats for Kids program. If you are renewing or upgrading your winter gear, please consider donating those items you no longer use to those in need.

Our second fundraiser is to help feed families in need. There are two ways you can contribute, through the divisional or school hampers (or both! ????) We are collecting boxes of cereal on behalf of the division hamper collection through Sturgeon Heights Collegiate. Families can also contribute to three hampers that our school is putting together for families in our community. Please see the following list for items that have been recommended. The left column is the recommended items for one family, the right column is the recommended amount for three families.

Please know that we appreciate the hard times many families are experiencing, but we have also experienced the generosity and wonderful spirit this community has. If every family can contribute one item towards either request (cereal or other food item) it will help many families experience the joy of the coming season.

We had a mysterious burning smell in part of the school this afternoon so your child may complain of a headache.

The smell originated just after lunch and was investigated by staff and divisional maintenance employees. The rooms affected were on the south side of the school only. We opened doors and windows, gave students breaks outside and increased the fresh air intake. Teachers were asked to monitor their students and choose to move their class to alternate rooms if possible.

I suspect mice are plotting a takeover... :) β€‹

Have a great weekend.
