École Assiniboine is a K-5 French Immersion school. We acknowledge that we are on Treaty One land, the traditional territory of the Cree, Anishinaabe and Dakota peoples and homeland of the Métis Nation.
The goal of the French Immersion programme is to foster learning to create confident, proud and engaged global citizens who are plurilingual. Our vision is to develop the French language so that students can spontaneously and independently interact in French and feel a sense of belonging in the larger francophone community. We believe that as competent Canadian citizens in both French and English, students will have greater choices in life and that they will be more aware and accepting of other languages and cultures.
École Assiniboine was built in 1922 and has a rich and diverse history in its community. Currently, we have approximately 280 students. At École Assiniboine we are committed to making sure that all children learn by creating an inclusive and welcoming environment. We believe that everyone in our community is important and so the relationships we create are the foundation of our school. We work hard to teach and learn as a staff so that we can do our very best for the children in our care. Families are essential partners and are always welcomed to join in our learning through many volunteer opportunities. We believe in creating life-long learners!
