I hope that all is well with you on this sunshiny day. The sky is blue, birds are singing, the grass is growing, it’s all good!
All of these good things also means that summer isn’t far away, and with summer comes summer reading at WPL! As educators, you all know that summer learning loss is real, and can have a negative impact on students when they return to class in the fall. One way to turn summer learning loss into summer learning is by encouraging students to take part in a summer reading program.
Winnipeg Public Library is once again offering free programs throughout July and August, including take home kits with activities, prize draws and fun stuff going on at the library. These programs are suited for pre-readers, readers, kids, tweens and teens. I’m happy to come and speak to the students and staff at your school about the joys and benefits of summer reading, or to have your class come to the branch for a tour and talk.
