Westwood Collegiate is offering a new Art Exploration course for Grades 9 through 12. The course was designed to encourage students to explore personal feelings, thoughts and issues through a personal art making experience. We explore mindfulness in the arts, as well as implement art therapy exercises into lessons.
We started off the year with a mindful art activity involving zentangles. A zentangle is and easy-to-learn, relaxing and fun way to create beautiful images by drawing structured contained patterns. Creating repeated patterns allows students to release stress, relax and improve focus.
