Thirty students from Collège Sturgeon Heights Collegiate and St. James Collegiate competed on April 9, 2026, in the 28th Annual Skills Manitoba Competition. The Olympic-style contest saw students put their skills to the test in Skilled Trades & Technology Education categories ranging from Hairstyling, to Electronics, Carpentry, Job Search, and more.
“I'm so proud of our Huskies who competed at Skills Manitoba. Every year that we enter the competition, we are so impressed with how our students take on real-world challenges, show great skills and confidence, and represent CSHC so well. Congratulations to them on this awesome job and well-earned achievement! We would also be remiss if we did not thank our hardworking teachers and the training that they put into getting our kids ready to take on this challenge," says George Valentim, Principal of Collège Sturgeon Heights Collegiate.
St. James Collegiate Principal Roné Boyko commends Jimmie Ashlyn Crerar and teacher Tony Scarpino (pictured below right) for taking home a bronze in Hairstyling. “This event is such a great learning opportunity for Ashlyn and other SJASD students. Everyone should be proud of their accomplishments. Congratulations!"
