Each year, up to 180 students in Grades 4-8 from across the school division are selected to make up two casts for a Divisional Musical Production. Students rehearse from September to January with the final production being presented at semester break. The Divisional Musical Theatre program is directed by Paula Olko, paula.olko@sjasd.ca. A different musical is performed each year inside the Westwood Collegiate theatre.
This year's musical is Madagascar Jr. and will run from January 25 to February 1, 2025.
SJASD has produced several Divisional musicals over the years, including Finding Nemo Jr., Moana Jr., Frozen Jr., Seussical, The Musical Jr., James and the Giant Peach Jr., and Junie B. Jones.
