All SJASD students who are working, volunteering, or gaining experience off-campus in a workplace must complete the Youth Worker Readiness Certificate Course. The course teaches minimum standards such as general holidays, vacations, minimum wage and termination apply to all employees regardless of age as well as workplace safety and health requirements.
Students must:
•Complete the course and obtain a Certificate of Completion
•Provide the employer and placement supervisor with a copy of the certificate
•Provide the employer with written consent from a parent or guardian if under 16 years of age.
