Studying in Winnipeg has definitely changed my life…teachers and students are really nice to me, I feel like school is a big family, so I started to get involved and make friends.  I became a happy and outgoing person.  I am so grateful to St. James-Assiniboia School Division for giving me an opportunity to study in Winnipeg.”   - Sze Wing, Hong Kong

St. James-Assiniboia aims to put students on the path to post-secondary achievement and academic success, with our graduates eligible and well prepared for universities and colleges in Canada, the USA, and throughout the world. Along with general high school instruction, our four high schools offer a wide range of courses including specialized studies and ESL support. An important element of the International Student Program is that students are integrated into classroom settings with local students, allowing for the highest quality cross-cultural academic experience. The Division offers the support and supervision international students need to make necessary adjustments to their new environment. A qualified counselor monitors each student's academic progress and offers support and guidance. Regular reports are forwarded to the international student's parents.
Our Division has:

  • A remarkable number of students who go on to excel in post-secondary education
  • A track record of academic excellence
  • A low ratio of International to Canadian students in our schools
  • A wide array of nationally and internationally recognized certificate and diploma programs
  • Full integration of international students in classroom settings, complemented by ESL programming
