Life in Winnipeg
St. James-Assiniboia International Student Program has an extensive activities program to introduce students to Canadian culture and life in Winnipeg. We generally have three organized and supervised activities per month, including sports, arts, and cultural events, and meals at local restaurants serving Canadian and international cuisine. Some of the activities we regularly plan are ice hockey games, Winnipeg Blue Bombers football games, performances of the Royal Winnipeg Ballet and Manitoba Opera, visits to the Winnipeg Art Gallery, Manitoba Museum, and the Forks.

St. James-Assiniboia is located in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.  Winnipeg has a population of 700,000 and is safe, secure, and friendly with a cosmopolitan lifestyle, offering many different cultural, recreational, and athletic facilities, and many vibrant and diverse neighbourhoods.  Winnipeg is also home to four universities.  In addition to the open prairie landscape, the surrounding area includes lakes, sandy beaches, forests, and hills, which allow students a wide range of year-round activities.

Student Statements

"The last three months in Canada have been some of the best times in my life...Maybe you fear the winter in Canada. Don't! The weather can be cold, but think of all the fun you can have in the snow and ice: skating, playing hockey, skiing! " - Jonas, Germany

"Winnipeg is a beautiful city and also the best place to learn. In the school, people are nice and humourous. You can go many places, like Polo Park, Chinatown, etc. I have been happy in the one and a half years I have been here." - Chenhui, Hong Kong
