The Collège Sturgeon Heights Collegiate (CSHC) Jazz Band has come together and made a virtual video of an arrangement of 'Ain't No Mountain High Enough'. The idea was the brainchild of CSHC Principal Ron Pelletier – as a way to celebrate the class of 2020. Each student recorded their individual parts on their phones in their homes.
“I think it was a great learning experience for the students, as they had to be able to follow some fairly complicated directions remotely, play with a click track, and be willing to be persistent if they didn't get their best "take" right away," said Kathy Byrne, Band Teacher and Band Director with Collège Sturgeon Heights Collegiate. “The wonderful part is that this project allows them to celebrate musically together, and I'm hopeful that this little moment will be something they will be proud to share with their children and grandchildren one day - long after a vaccine for COVID-19 has been created!"
Everyone is hugely grateful to Todd Cardinal, Media Arts teacher at CSHC and Joel Green, professional musician and recording engineer for their work on this project.
