Each year Lakewood Elementary School hosts a community run along with Crestview School and Buchanan School.
This year Lakewood is extending an invitation to all students and families in the St James-Assiniboia School Division to join in a virtual community run. The traditional Lakewood Elementary School run is a 2.5 km loop that you can choose to complete once, twice or three times.
This year students and families can run any distance they choose, anywhere they choose, and complete their run between Saturday, June 13 and Thursday, June 18.
After you run is complete, please submit a picture with signage indicating:
1. Your school
2. Distance ran
3. Name(s) of runner(s)
4. Time (optional)
Photos received will be compiled in a video and posted to YouTube on Friday, June 19.
Note: A consent form must be submitted prior to your run (please print, complete, scan then send it to jeffrey.spiers@sjasd.ca).
When running, remember:
1. Stay on the sidewalk if possible.
2. When run/walking on roads, always go against traffic.
3. Always yield to vehicles at intersections. Don't assume that cars will stop for you.
4. Obey all traffic rules and signals.
5. It's always best to run with a friend or family.
