​Collectively, Trustees Holly Hunter and Sandra Lethbridge have over 25 years of experience serving on the SJASD Board of Trustees. But both are undertaking new roles this school year.

Holly Hunter has been elected to the position of Chair. Last year, Holly served as Vice Chair and has held numerous committee roles including Chair of the former Education Committee (2020-2022). She is currently serving her second term representing constituents in the East Ward of the Division. She was first elected in 2018.

Sandra Lethbridge has been elected to the role of Vice Chair. Sandra was first elected to the Board representing what is now the West Ward in 2010. Since then, she's served on numerous committees, most recently as Chair of the former Personnel Committee (2014-22), and Chair of the Human Resources/Governance Committee (2022-23). In 2022, Lethbridge was acclaimed as the Manitoba School Boards Association's (MSBA) Vice President of School Boards with greater than 6,000 students.

Both Trustees are eager to bring their skills and experience to their new governance roles.

“I am humbled to be selected by my fellow trustees to serve as Chair of the Board for the 2023-24 school year," says Holly.

“I would like to thank my Board members for their support and am looking forward to my new role on the St. James-Assiniboia School Division Board of Trustees," says Sandra.

We sincerely thank outgoing Chair Cheryl Smukowich for serving in the role for the last five consecutive school years, notably during the pandemic. Smukowich continues to represent residents of the West Ward.
