​For the third year in a row, students grabbed their art supplies and participated in Inktober a Division-wide drawing challenge. The event encourages students to draw once a day over the month of October to develop their art skills, have fun, and express themselves.

Students are invited to submit entries to their art or homeroom teachers before the end of the month for consideration in the Inktober contest, which includes four age categories.

Arts Coordinator Catharine Rivard-Iacozza was impressed with the selection of artwork. “This year's entries included superheroes, pumpkins, anime, and other cultural icons such as the Mona Lisa and the Phantom of the Opera," she says. “It was great to see such a variety of styles and subject matter."

• Early Years K-2 – Second Place: Jaxon, Heritage (pumpkins)
• Early Years 3-5 – First Place: Bennett, Voyageur (pumpkin with arms)
• Early Years 3-5 – Second Place: Julia, Voyageur (colourful people)
• Middle Years – First Place: Chloe, Ness (black and white anime)
• Middle Years – Second Place: Zoey, Lincoln (colourful eyes)
• Senior Years – First Place: Dienne, Westwood (Mona Lisa)
• Senior Years – Second Place: Aliyah, St. James (Phantom of the Opera)

November marks SJASD's Graphic Arts Contest. Senior Years' students are encouraged to submit their graphic arts creations for a chance to win.
