On Monday, April 9, SJASD lowered our flags to half-mast to show our support for all of the Broncos players, their family members, friends and the community of Humboldt. As the week continued, our students and staff continued to stand together to honour the Broncos and all those impacted by demonstrating love, support and community in a variety of ways. Our schools participated in Jersey Day, which was dedicated to the Humboldt community, and wore either a favourite jersey or green and yellow. On this day, many schools gathered for group photos in their school gymnasiums and held up Humboldt signs/logos, drawings, poems, jerseys and more as a tribute to all of the Broncos players and their loved ones.
Hockey sticks were placed outside countless doors Division-wide from main hallways to school entrances and fundraisers began to pop up being led by passionate student groups within our schools. These fundraisers included bracelet sales, bake sales, jersey donations and go fund me page donations to help support to the Humboldt community. In SJASD, and all across Canada, we stand together. #HumboldtStrong
