Beginning on February 12, 2026, all schools and buildings in the St. James-Assiniboia School Division (SJASD) lowered flags to half-mast in recognition of the tragedy in Tumbler Ridge, British Columbia.

Flags will remain lowered until sunset on February 17, 2026, in alignment with a half-masting directive​ from the federal government.

This gesture honours the victims, families, and the wider community of Tumbler Ridge following this devastating event and reflects our collective sense of sorrow as a school community and as citizens.

This action comes at the direction of the Superintendent/CEO, who is acting in coordination with other metro school divisions during this period of mourning.
